Parents are asked to remind their children not to walk, cycle or run onto the road, without looking both ways and ensuring that it is safe to cross. Teaching children not to move onto the road from in between parked cars will also support the safety of our children and community.
Please also provide frequent reminders to your children regarding correct bicycle and pedestrian procedures. These procedures can be effective ‘real world’ homework practice, for those parents seeking additional at home learning. In addition to cyclists wearing helmets, it is also important that students wear a helmet when riding a scooter or skateboard in the community. Please remember that children under the age of 10 years of age do not have sufficient maturity to ride bicycles on public roads.
Bicycles and scooters are to be parked in the bike racks provided. It is highly recommended that they be secured with a suitable chain and lock. In the interest of student safety, bikes and scooters must be walked through the school grounds. Bicycles and scooters are not insured by the school, and any damage or losses are the responsibility of parents.
The Department of Education strictly prohibits students under the age of 16 from brining, using or storing eRideables on school grounds.
At Treeby Primary School we are fortunate to have many parking bays for use by our school community. Parents living close by the school are encouraged to walk or cycle to school, which will ease traffic congestion at peak times.
If you do need to drive to school, please travel around the school in an anticlockwise direction, being mindful of the school zone speed limit.
Our school has Kiss and Drive bays in the carpark near the basketball courts on Sapphire Drive, which is supervised by a member of staff for before and after school. Parents can stop briefly in the Kiss and Drive bays to drop off and pick up their child/children, when safe to do so. To support safety, these bays cannot be used for parking.
Similarly, under no circumstances are parents to park on road verges or block access for local residents, as this poses serious safety concerns for pedestrians and doesn’t model the respect that Treeby Primary School is founded on. Please note that parents are not permitted to park in the staff parking area.
Only ACROD permit holders may park in the designated areas provided.
