Celebrating Success and Progress
At Treeby Primary School, we strongly believe in supporting children to learn internal motivation to achieve, while also recognising the importance of external acknowledgement and celebration of their success.
A wide variety of individual, class, group and whole school reinforcers are used to encourage and support students including:
- Incursions, excursions, discos, colour runs and other P&C events.
- Representing our school in the community, for example through Sport or Choir.
- Student Spotlights which are shared with the wider community and Department of Education.
- Student Leadership roles.
- Clubs such as Podcast, Maths, Gardening and Music.
- Year level specific celebrations such as Kindy events and Year 6 celebrations.
- Positive communication home.
- Class based rewards vary but may include; prize boxes, stickers, stamps and student negotiated rewards.
Positive Behaviour Awards
As a school committed to positive behaviour, we also actively teach, model and celebrate the behaviours outlined in our matrix.
When students demonstrate these behaviours, they receive faction tokens as recognition of their positive choices and actions. Achievements are celebrated at fortnightly Block Assemblies, where students are recognised alongside their peers through Positive Behaviour Awards.
Additional Positive Behaviour Certificates are awarded to students as they reach faction token milestones:
- Quartz – 25 tokens
- Opal – 50 tokens
- Platinum – 75 tokens
- Diamond – 100 tokens
Students who receive the Diamond certificate also receive a school pin.
GEMS Morning Tea
As part of our commitment to student voice, selected students are invited each term to enjoy morning tea with the Principal and Executive Team. Students may be nominated more than once for this reward.
Students attending the GEMS Morning Tea are recognised with a GEMS Award in recognition of their consistently positive behaviour and valuable contribution to our school community. These students often lead by example through their positive attitude and approach to learning. Through their actions, they help create a supportive, respectful, and inclusive environment for those around them, often making a difference quietly and without seeking recognition.
While enjoying yummy food and, at times, participating in activities such as cookie decorating, students are encouraged to share feedback about what is working well across the school and ideas for further improvement. These valuable insights are then shared with staff and the P&C to support future planning and decision making.
End of Year Concert & Book Awards
At our End of Year Book Awards, students from each class are recognised for their achievements and contributions throughout the year. Teachers select one student to receive the Precious Minds Academic Award and one student to receive the Growing Minds Citizenship Award.
